Also known as the shadow plant, Calathea Leopardina originate from the tropical rainforests of South America and can grow to be as tall as 60cm at a speedy rate! If you hadn't guessed already, the plants name stems from the fact that the leaves are reminiscent of an animal's print.

Calathea Leopardina like a lot of diffused light, but direct sunlight will cause the leaves to fade and lose their stunning markings. They tend to grow on the canopy floor so they can tolerate the shade, but much prefer indirect light.

They like their soil to be moist, but don't let them sit in water because they're prone to root rot. Watering little and often will do the trick.

If you want to take extra special care of your calathea leopardina then wipe the leaves with a damp cloth every so often to remove any dust and keep them in temperatures of between 18-23°C. This plant loves high humidity! Stand on a wet pebble tray to improve humidity and mist frequently.

Calathea Leopardina are brilliant at removing harmful toxins from the air and are pet friendly, making them an excellent house plant.
